Wealth in Women has supported New Hope, Inc, which engages survivors, stakeholders, and communities to build an anti-violence movement. Using a trauma-informed practice, they work with those impacted by sexual and domestic violence, as well as those persons who use abuse in their intimate relationships.
New Hope is committed to practices that promote racial and gender equity, while also elevating persons living with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ identified people, and immigrants.
Getting the Facts
Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women – more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes
combined.
Every 9 seconds in the United States, a woman is assaulted or beaten.
Women ages 20-24 are at the greatest risk of becoming victims of domestic violence.
Every year, 1 in 3 women who are victims of homicide is murdered by her current or former partner.
1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence during her lifetime.
Most domestic violence incidents are never reported.
1 in 4 GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender) individuals also experience domestic violence.
Current Project: New Hope Clothing Store
Unfortunately, many domestic survivors must leave their homes without any personal items, such as clothing and hygiene products.
The New Hope store is committed to helping survivors access essential items such as clothing and hygiene products that many domestic survivors must leave their homes without.
